A story about being able to use a general-purpose camera strap with Canon EOS M5.
This article is about the strap of Canon EOS M5.
I don't really have any complaints about the included strap itself, but I am concerned about how to attach it or the parts.
The gap between the strap ring is loose and dangerous
First of all, please refer to Canon's official PDF below regarding attaching the strap.

Roughly speaking, you attach the ring to the camera, thread the strap through it, and secure it with the cap.
Strap, ring, and cap.
The left side is fixed with a cap.
If you look to the right, you can see that there is quite a gap between the rings.
The image above is a little artificial, but once the cap is removed, the strap can easily be removed from the gap between the rings.
It's a very dangerous structure.
There are also reports of falling cameras on a certain bulletin board...
Etsumi's triangular ring cannot be used with the EOS M5, so a replacement is available.
I bought Etsumi's triangular ring thinking that I could prepare a separate triangular ring and attach a general-purpose strap as an alternative, but...
Unfortunately, the hole in the ring attachment part on the camera side is so narrow that the double ring part cannot fit through...orz
So I went back to searching for the triangular ring.
I was looking around at a certain home center, and this is what I found to be useful. ↓
This was the only one sold at a certain home center...
by the way, it was 59 yen + tax.
It seems like each e-commerce site has higher shipping costs.
From what it looks like, it seems to have a load capacity of 5kg (when used as intended).
In order to use only the triangular ring part, I forcibly removed the unnecessary part with radio pliers.
I had to use radio pliers to attach it a little forcefully, but it worked fine.
We also added an Etsumi ring cover in advance to prevent damage to the body.
This is the strap I used this time. ↓
I think the design matches as well.
Afterword
With the above precautions in place, took photos at Komaki Air Base , and I'm glad I was able to use it comfortably without worrying about the camera falling.
By the way, if it's a round ring, you can use Etsumi's.
However, the triangular ring is cooler.
The camera and lens shown in the image are here. ↓
